Treasure Beach

As the name suggests, this is a beautiful sandy beach spanning across 6 small villages. However, this part of Jamaica is a little different.  There is a true sense of community and pride within these fishing villages and they are interested in sustainable development.  Fishing is the #1 industry and farming is very profitable as well.  Despite its arid climate, the south coast provides the rest of Jamaica with a lot of its vegetables such as onions and scallions.

This is the type of region where you’ll run into a lot of friendly people, learn more about Jamaica’s history, and then wonder, where did the time go?  If you’re an outdoors type of person, Treasure Beach is right up your ally.  Go for a hike up the seaside hills, explore the area on a bike, swim in one of the 6 beaches and even try out a little snorkeling.

Black River Safari Tour

Did you know there were swamps in Jamaica?  Go for a 6-mile tour up Black River in Jamaica's southcoast.  Your guide will try to help you catch a glimpse of the endangered American Crocodile.  These wetlands are full of vegetation and three types of mangroves. Come explore a different, swampier side of Jamaica!

Pelican Bar

A true symbol of how important fishing is to the villages in the south coast.  Pelican Bar was a fisherman's dream turned into reality.  After a long day of fishing, who wouldn't want to kick back and relax before heading home?  Pelican Bar is accessible by a 20 minute boat ride.  It is a wooden building that is supported by stilts.  It was remodeled several years ago after being totally ruined by a hurricane.  Not only was Pelican Bar a good idea for tired fisherman, it was a good idea, period.  It's a consensus, those who have had the good fortune of experiencing the vibe at Pelican Bar, all rave about how unique, memorable, and authentic Pelican Bar is.
